South Carolina Fishing Charter
Sea Jay Charters is a light tackle and fly fishing guide and charter service located in the Historic Seaport of Georgetown, South Carolina. Just South of Myrtle Beach, this seaport was founded in 1729 and became an Official Port in 1732. There is excellent fishing in the local waters of Winyah Bay, North Inlet, Santee Delta, and other near-by rivers and creeks.
We mainly target these excellent inshore species:
Red Fish, Speckled Trout, Flounder, Tarpon, and Shark.
Tarpon fishing is our main game during the Summer months of June through October. We fish for these trophy Tarpon using live bait, lures, and fly. Most anglers go for the live bait outing which seems to work the best for seeing and catching this great sport fish.

More About Tarpon
Tarpon aka Megalops Atlanticus, Poon, or Silver King are a prehistoric fish that have become one of the most sought after “Game Fish” in the world. Poons have a unique air bladder that they use to take air from the surface when they are feeding and chasing bait, this is what you see them doing while hunting them. Also, when in the heat of battle with one of these ultimate sport fish, they gulp air to rejuvenate themselves. This usually makes for a thirty minute or longer fight.
Megalops Atlantius have no food value and are generally a catch and release sport fish. We will measure and take pictures of your catch in the event you would like to mount your prized catch.
Tarpon range anywhere from 60 pounds to about 200 pounds!
The current South Carolina record is 154 pounds 10 ounces in 1987, so a new record is realistic.
The first Tarpon we caught last year was during the second week of June. This year we may see our first catch earlier with the water temperature rising very fast.
